Daniel Adams, who has over 5 years experience supporting HDMI over IP projects all over the UK  through working with Just Add Power, will look at the benefits and limitations of distributing HDMI signals up to and including 4K over a local area network infrastructure. Areas covered include:

  • The growing popularity of HDMI over IP vs traditional HDMI video matrixes. Why are more and more brands coming out with IP-based HDMI distribution products?

  • Differences between IP transmission methods (H.264, JPEG2000 etc.) What do these terms actually mean and how much importance should we give to them when spec’ing product?

  • Good compression vs bad compression. Tell-tale signs of bad compression to look out for!

  • What you should look for in an IP-based HDMI distribution products e.g. dependability, added system features, inter-operability with third party systems.

  • Sending 4K signals over a local area network- 10GB switches vs 1 GB, fibre vs Cat 5e /6.

  • The essential skills needed installers need to integrate a robust HDMI over IP distribution system.
